Push pull switch or key switch

I just recently got a 1948 Cub that has been converted to battery coil ignition. My question is for ease of fixing some issues is it better to use the pull switch or get a key switch? Also with key switch will dash need to be drilled out and wire ends changed. Tractor has a new harness on it but it's for mag set up and not sure what all got changed for coil.

Push/pull is fine. The only difference between that and a key switch is that you can lock the key switch to keep kids or others from starting it without a key

I use a toggle switch. Up on, down off. Auto parts store for under $5-.

You only need a switch that can handle 5 amps.

You should be able to use the same hole that held the magneto switch.

You will need to take electricity from the amp gauge to the switch. You can use the wire from the magneto switch to power the distributor.

That's a good point. I have a tractor that a key switch was optional on but still uses main ignition light switch. Was thinking maybe adding a key later once I have it running again

I’ve only done it one time. I started my Cub with it in gear while I was standing next to it. It started and took off. I’m sure glad I had a push button switch to shut it off.
