Power steering a good Idea for a 56 cub with a wagner loader? I was thinking about installing electric power steering with a kit foe a utv.
would like some feedback on that because the steering shaft would have to be cut and a electric motor hanging from it with the power steering shaft added

Considering the fact that UTVs do not steer that hard to begin with I wonder if they would be strong enough. Also if it hasn't already been done you need a 12 volt electrical system. I have heard of people using the system for Saturn cars on them.

A couple things that will help the steering and are not as complicated are first to get some wider wheels such as found on some 2 wheeled garden tractors are lawn tractors (6 inches wide) and get some radial small car tires. The ones I have can be aired to 65 psi, and the higher pressure combined with the wider tread not sinking into the ground are a big help. A second thought, though a little more complicated is to get a set of thrust bearings and install in the bottom of the front spindles. If you don't want to go that far, jacking up the front and pumping a good grease in till it runs out around the bottom of the spindles will also help.

A third suggestion would be to eat more spinach. :lol: Which is a suggestion I probably should take.

I thought about putting the electric automotive one on my cub with a henderson loader when I built it ....I do have the Ag type wider front tires on it already...I really don't have an issue with it so I haven't put the power steering on it....I have moved a lot of rocks, manure and dirt with it as it is...I used a spool valve with outlets for a hydraulic bucket but am still using the trip bucket set up...I don't have an issue with that either, but someday I'll amend that :lol: ...The biggest thing I found is the bucket does lighten up the rear even with wheel weights..I keep the bucket low to the ground when backing away from the pile after its loaded (6 inches)... I will amend that part of it soon with extra weight on the rear cause it likes to spin the rears under some conditions unless you're dancing with the brakes :lol: .... You should keep the bucket as low as possible while transporting material in any event...As John said I keep the front end well greased...I'd try those alternatives first..Just my humble opinion...Dave.....( My loader is an amended loader off an A )
