Pittsburgh Field Cultivator Gauge Wheels

In your rusty pre painted pic, there is a extra set of mounting brackets on each end. Looks to be the same as the ones that hold the cultivator shanks, but they are turned around.

Was them on there for a set of round shank gauge wheels?

That was for putting the rake on when it was used a rake. Roseman Rake. Do a google search for one...or here is a link. That is our rake in the pictures.

I put the extra brackets back on. They don't stand out as much in the after pictures. They are identical to the others that are holding teeth. I have one ad for Pittsburgh (1966). It doesn't show a lot of detail, but it appears the same brackets were used for multiple attachments, including the Roseman Rake CapeCodCubs has. It looks like their gauge wheel attachment used them. Interestingly, the exact tooling combination I have seems to have been very common with the Ford and Ferguson versions, but it is not shown in this ad. Set-up on these cultivators was quite flexible as the brackets can be reversed to move tools fore/aft and the round parts that clamp to them can be adjusted vertically and turned to position fore/aft as well as sideways. I suppose the bar clamped across the spring teeth adds some stability to each one in hard ground.

I believe Barnyard posted some other literature into an earlier thread.
