My copy of the manual has the number 25069 written in beside the seal, but I cannot find anything it currently crosses over to. I seem to remember them being available several years ago, but the price was around $100 or more.

John, In your copy of the CD-6 manual does it give a size and type of key for the handle where it goes on the shaft? If it does could you supply that information for me. Also do you know where I might find a parts manual such as the one you have? Thanks, Frank
P.S. I stumbled upon this thread one day and found the part number for the shaft seal (25069) and just looked on eBay, there was a NOS Howard seal so I had to have it. Thanks to you John!!!

I have one on my 57 loboy. I have used it a few time and seems to work. It is a bit hard to move the handle if I don’t exercise it every once and a while.

The shifter lever is on a steel shaft and it runs through a cast iron housing so rust can be a problem. Keep it well lubed with oil and inside a building out of the rain if possible. If it does freeze up with rust spray some Kroil or PB Blaster penetrant on it and let it soak for a while before forcing the shifter lever as they are prone to break if too much force is exerted on them. Occasional exercising of the shifter is good preventative maintanence to keep it moving freely.

I am trying to replace the bearing on the shaft and can’t figure out how to get the shaft and the last plate out of the housing. Not sure if the front comes off, didn’t want to start messing with that until I am sure. Any help would be appreciated

New owner here and mine has one. I couldn’t figure out what it was and can this Despeeder when not in the right position cause the rear end not go into gear? I can’t my pic to attach. Ugh

Yes it can. It has two working positions. straight up normal speed. Handel moved to right til it engages (about 40 degrees) half speed. I posted a copy of the manual in the discussion in the Introduce Yourself discussion. The dogs that engage it are larger than gear teeth, so if they do not match up it takes more movement to engage than the teeth of a gear do.

Thank u very much! So now I have it running and moving so as I move forward I want to “fix” everything.....leaks and anything else not working as it should and slowly restoring it hopefully back to new. That being said we will be using it when we need it for small projects and/or just when it comes in handy. Luv this little tractor already just because of its history and the way it is built. Look forward to playing with it for years to come.

Hi everyone. New to the forum and new to cubs. Got a Low Boy from my father-in-low with two despeeders mounted on it, with wheel spaces and axle housing facing the rear. This this is REALLY wide with all that on it. I'll be removing the spacer attachments and rotating the axle housings forward to make it more compact. I have restored a Super C and Super. Finding parts is always interesting. Saw some great ideas about retrofitting the seal plan to use the transmission seal. I really like that idea. What have you all done for the two flat gaskets that seal against the transmission housing and the seal plate? Are those available somewhere or do you just cut out new ones yourself. A manuel for the unit would fantastic if anyone would like share. Not sure what the spec is for how much oil to put in them. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Can you post a picture of the tractor that you are describing? There were some special modifications made for highway mowers and just wondering if this is what you have? Tks Stan
EDIT: The first original post on this topic is almost 12 years old and the most recent (before yesterday) was almost 7 years ago. You will probably get better response if you start a new topic on the farmall cub forum. JMHO Stan
