What is the correct number for. Wix or Napa oil filter for 1951 cub. I got wix number51153 and the hole is too small. Thanks

That's the correct number. NAPA is 1153, also made by Wix.

I see in some other threads that people are having problems with the hole being too small, clear back to 2020. I doubt that NAPA goes through very many Cub filters so it is very likely the ones you got have been sitting on the shelf that long.

If it's just a hair too small use a tapered punch to wallow out the hole so that it fits.

In my experience even the older Fram and CaseIH filters didn't seem like the bolt was going to fit at first. Had to hold my tongue just right, and the bolt JUST slid in.

Filter only goes in one way. Make sure it is not upside down. Top hole is bigger than bottom hole.

I would return it and get a Fleetguard LF672. Mine came with a gasket and Fleetguard makes the filters for Case/IH.

Yea been hearing about this for years on here. I was thinking some folks said that you can screw the bolt into the hole to be able to use it

I've done that with several, don't remember what brand(s) they were. I've done that without particularly thinking about it as it is no big deal. I don't know if there are others that have the hole severely undersize where screwing the bolt in isn't an option. I haven't run into that situation.

I went to NAPA and got a new filter. Same thing hole to small but I bought it anyway. I paid for it with credit card. When I got home I looked at receipt. They charged me $ 20.63 for the filter. I’m done with NAPA.

As I have mentioned before, if you take the hold down bolt thread it into the small end of the filter and it up on to the thin non threaded portion you can use the non threaded portion to carefully "wallow" or massage out the filter to the correct size, get it to where the bolt just passes through. Not a big deal. If it was critical with oil leakage it would have better seals on it anyway.
