Numbered Lowboy ?s

I might have found a numbered lowboy. It has a full hard cab, snowblower, and a 60 finish mower. It was in an old swap and sell it guide. It has the real wide rear tires and the engine side covers. Hydrualic lift. I was wondering if there is anything that I should pay attention to or look for specifics.

I believe it to be a 154

Hey Dave Is that 154 in Brownfield? Theres one about 3 miles south of my daughters place just as you describe. This ones cobbled up a bit. Bondo radiator cover, etc. I dont know the price. Buzzard Wing may have a picture of it if he's been up North. Frank
 
Just be aware that the weak spot on the number series was the clutch and pto drive clutch. They are totally different from earlier cubs because of the live pto set-up and do seem to be a little more difficult to get adjusted right and replacement parts are not cheap.
 
hard cab , sounds like a cozy cab 8) depending what you could buy it for you may be able to make your money back from just selling the cab and blower . :D
 
BD is right-on about the PTO clutch. Check the frame below the battery--my 184 was completely rusted in two--the fender on that side may be just rust holding it together too. Steering train is weak on this design, so getting slop out is a challenge. Front spindles for the wheels are also weak, but fairly easy to fix. Those big turf tires are pricey to replace, but they will run a LONG time looking rough. They ride easier than ag tires by using low PSI.

When you say engine side covers, just what do you mean? If the side covers completely cover the sides of the engine compartment, it is not a numbered Lo-Boy.

Paul here is the pic of it in the ad. THey think that it is an early 80's tractor, but they didn't make them at that time.

I did look at that 154 this morning Junkman.... but I didn't have the camera.
It has a hardtop (no enclosure) with an IH (Danco?) snowblower and a 59" mower. Also had a snowplow on it. I didn't get out of the car (raining and not too interested anyway) but the owner(?) said he wanted $3400 for it.
