Hey everybody,
New member here. Been stalking on the forum for a while trying to learn. Just picked up my first Farmall today, 1953 Super M.
Made in Louisville, no implements (yet).
The background on the tractor is that it was bought by my great grandpa brand new in 1953 for our small family farm. Then, when he passed away in the early 90s (before I was born) the tractor was stored under the lean to on the barn until today when I loaded it up and brought it home. The same story went with his 1960 Ford Thunderbird which is now running and driving and sitting in my garage waiting for paint and interior work.
Very excited to start work on it and try to get it restored to its former glory. Will probably be reaching out to help from you guys since my knowledge on old tractors is limited, I mostly do work on cars.
 
Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear your Farmall M is a family tractor that's staying in the family.

Now that you have 2 posts, you can access all the manuals on the server. They’re located under the "Quick Links" pull-down menu in the upper left of the screen. Go to "PDF Manuals", then scroll down and select whatever manual interests you. There are Service Manuals for the M and other information that will be helpful.

We'd also encourage you to read:

Hi JP, Great to hear that you are restoring and saving your family Cub & Ford. You have surly come to the right place for knowledge and expertise re all things Cub and machinery related. The guys on here are generous with their knowledge. Welcome to the forum from the Emerald Isle.
 
Thanks all! Already have got it running and driving after sitting for around 30 years. Cleaned the carb, new valve and seat, new battery and 6 volt coil, and new fluids is all that it took! Very impressive compared to having to rebuild the motor and transmission on the Thunderbird that sat the same amount of time. Need to find some new rear tires, muffler, and then teardown for paint and she will be good to go for another 70 some years.
