Narrow Cub

Got a Cub the other day, seems really narrow. Does any one know any information on these ? I read a few things like tomato and strawberry
cultivators, and may be made in Oxnard CA. Any other info and a value for this. Will try to load pictures later files to large. Thanks

Post some photos and your serial number. There were vineyard cubs made that were really narrow.

Got some pictures to that will fit. After looking a little closer I can see where the rear axle housing was brazed together and also the draw bar.
Is this how others are done? The head is loose, pan and rod bearing off and it will not turn over. Guess I will soak it this winter with penetrating
oil.

I have all the parts to make a narrow cub I bought from a guy in Creswell, Oregon. It was said to be made for strawberry fields. Coincidentally my cousin lives in Creswell, Oregon on what was a strawberry farm when I was a kid. We used to pick strawberry’s there when I was growing up. It’s across the street from where my cousin grew up. My parts look real similar to what your parts look like.

What do you think was going on with the LoBoy in the video? It kept quitting when he got on an incline under load. Bad float height?

The governor was not responding smoothly or quickly enough at that particular engine speed. By the way I forgot to mention that all those cubs on that trailer were for sale!

It was running out of gas, mine does the same thing on a grade if it’s low. It needs about 1-1/2” of fuel in a level tank to be ok on a grade.
On his second attempt you can hear the fellow in the ballcap say “it’s running out of gas that’s all get it on the level and it’ll be all right”.

Looks like you have found an vineyard cub. They were chopped down to fit between the rows. They are common but not too common on the west coast. They could have been modified for other purposes but most were used in the vineyards.

Nice find there, and post some more pics as you keep working.

I seriously doubt that anybody in any part of the US ever modified a Cub for vineyard use.
