My New to Me CC 70 (Picture Heavy)

Here is the model 70 I was discussing in the other post. Wanted to share some pictures of it. I think it looks very original and untouched, but I am not as familiar with the Cub Cadets as I am how the Cubs and other Farmalls were built. What do you all think?

Looks original to me. I like the decal on the side from the dealer. Does the left rear tire say "gum dipped" anywhere on the side of it? If it does I would say it's an original tire. My dad purchased a JD 110 round fender a few years ago and both rear tires look just like that one on your left rear and his both have "gum dipped" molded into them.

IDK about that wording. I will have to look and see. I feel that the tire you're talking about and the opposite front tire are original. THey look like a lot of the ones I remember seeing from years past.

Was the engine data plate painted over yellow at the factory? I do know that a replacement engine would have been black, so this one looks to be original.

Did you get the mower deck with the tractor?

Appears to be original. Nice thing about Cub Cadets is that parts are readily available.

I did get a mower deck with the tractor (was removed). I broke one of the wheels off it when I dropped it off the trailer. (it was dark and I was exhausted). I would like to get some original style tires for it if they are available and not costly. I think the only thing on the tractor that is worn (or shows wear) is the cracked seat......common, and the steering box and spindle bushings. I haven't tried the PTO clutch of course.

If that steering box is like I think it is there should be a nut with a slotted screw in it and you may can adjust some of the play out of the box.

Worth while. The adjustment "pin", that slotted screw, is usually worn out of shape. You can either purchase a new one or reshape it.

The same puller for the Cub's front pulley will work for removing the steering wheel.
