mowers for the Cub

Billy Ray, this is the mower I was talking about, its appears pretty heavy built and well thought out.

I'll try to hook it up and see how it mows, you and Roy ought to come over and check it out... :D

I think that there are at least 3 variations on the Woods59. Factory, "aftermarket", and L. I have had all 3. (L cut the best).

Steve,

Welcome to the forum!

Why it is a Woods mower... Steve Woods to be exact... :D :D (sorry, couldn't resist, from a guy with the last name Grapes.. :D )

Welcome,

Bush Hog, huh? I appreciate the info. Thanks. Ironically, I have two Farmalls with belly mowers and neither mower is a Woods, dang it! One of the idler pulleys on the Cub is broken and needs replaced. I just placed a WTB ad in the classifieds. I'm hoping to find a cast iron one like this rather than stamped steel:

the woods 59 is a right hand toatation, the woods 59 L is for left hand rotation.The left hand was used on A's super A's Alis C&B and CA;s. They cut equally well left or right handed. You can mount a left or righ handed woods 59 on a cub or a though the 140. only difference in rotatation is how the belt is wound.

I have a Bush Hog model 412A Belly mower. The repair parts catalog that I have is for four models 412A,412C,412SA,412G. I ordered the catalog off of the internet and it has a November 1983 date on it...According to the guy that sold me my 1949 Cub his Grandfather ordered two Cubs.One with a sickle mower and the other with a belly mower,which I have.Don't know for sure if this is the original belly mower,but it sure looks like it...

I just found a brand new model of belly mower for the Farmall Cub. The Arts-Way Model 1360B Mid Mount Mower. Jeff at Arts-Way very kindly sent the pdf file off to me. Should anyone need a copy let me know. It will be on the new server. :D

That mower would be a descendant of the Sunmaster. Artsway got into the mower business when they bought Sunmaster.

Jim:

That would be correct. I am not sure which SunMaster model though. They no longer have anything left in the archives except the 1360B which truly is a shame. Oh well.. one can only keep searching and hope to find Owner's and Parts catalogs for the SunMaster line.

Unless I am terribly mistaken, the 4 models were for :

412A = Farmall A
412C = Cub
412SA = Farmall Super A
412G = Allis Chalmers G (not quite as sure here)

The deck was probably common, but the attachment braces would have been slightly different. Many times one model is adapted to a Cub, with inventive cuts and welds to the attachment brackets.

Mott flailers are rated as "like a bush hog" cut, but they will cut turf as nice as any mower.

I think its the best Cub mower

and its EASY to hook up Beeray :D

That's a nice looking rig, Mikey, Is it a Mott that you added an international sticker on or did IH make a flail mower for the Fast Hitch?

Mott made these mowers, but IH had to be involved in the design as the rt angle drive is the IH drive. I like red better than yeller.

I wonder if they might have been available at the IH dealerships at one time?

They are around but getting harder to find. I found this one here in Arizona half buried in the ground. Still it was still fixable though :D
