Mike Schmudlach

I just learned that Mike Schmudlach passed away earlier this month. Those of you that are newer members of this site may not be familiar with him. It has been a dozen years since he was active on the site. But he was an early member here and his connection to antique tractors on the internet goes back to the early days of ATIS. He regularly attended the early Cubaramas and was largely responsible for French Cubs finding their way to the US. Another of his contributions was deep involvement with the Wisconsin Historical Society. His efforts greatly enhanced interest and support for the McCormick collection at WHS by the tractor community.

On a more personal note, the writing I did for Red Power Magazine was largely the product of his badgering me to do so. (After all, he was a lifelong Wisconsinite.) However, I have never quite owned up to his accusation that I got us thrown out of a biker convention.

Here is a link to his profile on this site.

So sorry to hear this unfortunate news. Prayers to Mike’s family and my deepest respect and sympathy for their loss.

Sorry for his passing, and prayers to his family and friends. I must have joined onto this site after he quit posting as I don't recall seeing his name on any of the posts. I missed his contribution and knowledge joining so late.

Sorry to hear this. I remember the banter between Mike and Leon Walker about whose French Cub was entitled to occupy Row One, Position One at JP's Cub-Arama in the early years. In the end, Leon was granted the honors and the tree at that spot was named The Walker Tree.

Here a video of Mike and Leon with their French Cubs:

I am so sorry to hear of Mikes passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Cubarama one year. A very nice gentleman. I was always going to buy a NOS Cub block from him and never did. I’m sure it’s long gone years ago. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Mike.
