McCormick Deering 100 Manure Spreader

I just picked up an IH 100 manure spreader in great condition mostly redone with the guards for $800. The only issue is the owner painted it in all John Deere colors.

Get all traces of that paint off ASAP! Ken Updike told me years ago that he was told by a reliable source that paint will destroy the molecular structure of anything it touches. John

Your post reminded me of my Dad. He worked for a hardware store in the 40's that sold IH tractors and equipment. He told me about setting up new machines and said the owner of the store would "stand behind" anything he sold except a manure spreader. John

Heres 1 of mine Painted IH Red.

That is a nice looking spreader! I put mine to use almost right away, aside from the beater chain hitting the spring and making it hard to engage, the unit works great. These are nice little spreaders. Can one of you guys take a pic of that area, I am wondering if my spring is aftermarket or maybe the mounting is tweaked?

Guy down the street has a 100 as lawn art. I stopped by asked if he’d part with it nope. Wood gone covers still intact most chain is still there but sitting outside it pains me to drive by it every day. I tried to convince him to sell it to me but nope... darn

I have a bunch of pics from my #100 refurb. Where, exactly, are you looking pictures for? Left side, right side, rear? Let me know...

I need to get new tires for my spreader, do a little welding and replace the wood with pressure treated lumber. It still works but had lots of field repairs done to it over the years it's not going to be a show piece , like my tractors it going be a worker. It should out last me when done because it's going to be spreading compost not wet manure. TJ
