Making Use Of The Shop

Like it. What does the planing? A router?
Also see a 154 Loboy and a cub cadet and rear wheels of another cub cadet? :)

Router with planing bit. Couldn't find the 1/2" collet for the router. Purchased a 1/4" shank planing bit. A 1/2" shank with a larger diameter bit would have done a better job, save some sanding.

There is also two skid steers stored in the shop.

Was working on the leaking hydrostat on the pictured 105 Cub Cadet for my daughter. The other Cub Cadet is my wife's 105/125.

Move the 154 and 105 outside or to another building, slide some furniture around, and we have a 20' x 30' work space for large projects.

Live edge Walnut?
Yes. The pictured slab is the largest of 4 that son purchased.

We planed two of the smaller slabs for practice and to see how well the sled and frame worked.

That is some nice work. Also your shop looks like a place to work now instead of an empty shed as it appeared the last time I saw it.
It filled up fast. Some of the chairs in the background in one of the photos came from Goodwill and the cast iron bench was a gift from a neighbor. Well sort of a gift, free, we had to replace most of the seat slats.

Wife has taken over the bench for several of her projects. More photos to follow as the projects progress.

Walnut has a lot of character and your wife and son took full advantage of it with this project. I like the black iron pipe legs too.

While our son Erik was stationed at Fort Bragg, he made this live edge walnut coffee table;

A friend of mine is a "tree killer" as he calls himself. Cuts trees down for a living. He comes up with some real nice logs once in awhile. Last fall he was showing me a stack of walnut logs from a half dozen trees he took down. There were 8-10 logs, each over 24" diameter x 20 foot long. He has a portable sawmill that will handle these just fine when he gets to them.
