looking for Cub positive battery to starter cable - HELP!

I have a 1953 cub that is 6v with a voltage regulator - but has been switched to a negative ground. I can't seem to locate an 87" positive battery terminal to starter cable anywhere. Any suggestion on where to find one are appreciated. Brillman, Steinier, and Yesterday's Tractor only seem to supply negative battery to starter cables. Thanks!

Hi,
If the Cub has the original style voltage regulator, I think you need the change the system to positive ground for the generator to charge. The original style voltage regulator is made for positive ground. The newer ones usually say positive ground on the bottom.
The 6 volt system should have number 2 or bigger battery cables.
If you have to have negative ground, turn the battery a half turn around from the pictures in the link below, and you may be able to open the cable end enough to fit on the positive post, which is usually bigger than the negative post.
I haven't tried it with the cable below, so I don't know, but I have with another one.

If you have to make a battery cable at that kind of long length, I have done best buying welding cable of the correct size for the application and putting on your own ends.

they make a terminal tool that will expand the negative to positive, use it a lot, look like pliers and just squeeze it to open it up the terminal

I make my own battery cables using #2 welding cable. The cable should be readily available at a variety of stores near you. If you have no way to crimp lugs on the end of the cable you can easily solder them on. That's what I do.

I make my own cables for all my tractors. Get the cable, terminals and hammer crimper on Amazon. 00 cable, solder filled terminal connections and I crimp after soldering.

Just remember that a 6 volt system needs heavier cables than a 12 volt system. I don't know if NAPA has heavy cables so it's worth checking.

I went to the local NAPA 10 years or so ago and had 2 new cables made for one of my Super C's. I wanted 1/0 cable but all they had was 2/0 so told them fine, make them. Nice cables, but the price was $92, mind you 10 years ago. That's when I started looking on line and found the batterycablesusa. I ordered a second set for my other Super C and cost was around $36 including shipping. Since then I've order cable sets for several other tractors and have never been disappointed.
