Let me say I have 6 cubs & a IH 140 before you all brand me as a trader. I recently pick up a 1941 or 1942 H John Deere I was wondering if any one Knows of John Deere H forum much like the Farmall Cub Forum. Thanks Dave F.

I think a lot of the forum people own something green. Even I. I have an old JD air pump that goes on the PTO that Dad used in the field when necessary to blow up a tire. Vern

I don't think there's that big of a following on the John Deere H as there are the Cubs. I had an H (1942), had every option you could get except fenders. I couldn't see spending that much on fenders after restoring the H, lol. I was at a tractor show and a man ask me if I needed any cultivators for an H, I said yes how much? He said $100. I went the following Saturday and picked them up, he had every piece with all the shanks etc. The cultivators didn't have the plant shields, I made every piece of them. I have a couple for our A and scaled them down. I had to add the hydraulic pump and get the hydraulic cylinder. This tractor didn't have PTO on it, I found a parts tractor and added it. I can't find any pictures of the restore or how bad it looked when I brought it home (most of the engine was in a box) but I did find some after it was done and found one in my toolbox of while I was testing it for leaks. I rebuilt the engine and put it all back together and drove it around for a while checking for leaks before finally painting it green. Like most other things we restore we're scared to use it for fear of scratching it, I never used this tractor after working on it for 6 years and finally traded it for a John Deere W111 power unit. I think after restoring the H that's why I have such a problem putting the final coat on projects I do now. We have a 1949 John Deere A my dad gave me, I restored it back in the late 90's and have a full set of 2 row cultivators for it as well, I have used it many times to cultivate corn and it still looks good even with the leaks it has developed. It's the only thing I have I wouldn't sell because my dad gave it to me and it's the same year he was born.

There's an H group on facebook. Also Patrick Browning did a nice print restoration guide on the JD H. It's probably the most detailed "how to restore" book I have ever seen. http://web.archive.org/web/201106111151 ... dition.htm

I'm IH to the bone but I love these little Hs! They seem to bring a premium in NC, just too much $$ for only 2 cylinders.... :)

We have a B under the shelter that is a family tractor, it's a basket case. My dad wants to get it running so that'll have to substitute for an H for a while....

I have an H to go along with My sons Cub. Love the little thing. Of course my son drives it more than I do.

I have an H, it needs much work, I have debated on selling it a time or two, but it's so stinkin' cute!

Two cylinder Deeres are a completely different animal, but how can you help but not like them?

I guess you can tell from the photo, it does not like to start very easily! :D

Dont apologize for owning a Deere!

While I am not a fan of Deere tractors prior to the New Generation series, it is good that others are!

Keep em going! And enjoy (and work) your tractor, no matter what color!

Ps.
I dont care for the new computer controlled, def fluid drinkin, or particulate filter tractors (or trucks) either!

Only have 3 Deere's here --- 50 - B, 420-u loader/backhoe, and dads 730D es., --- well and 3 mowers if they count, 110, 112, and 262---- none of them running.
The fleet here is half orange and half red, ---- red's get used the most.
