Indian Head shellac gasket sealer use

Hi all!
I learned of this product on here. In all my years I have never come across it before. I'm doing some maintenance on Karla's LoBoy and I picked up a bottle of it yesterday to give it a try. I'm planning on using it on the cork taper cover gasket. It appears it was used by the PO point on the tapped cover and not on the block..I have read this stuff is a real bear to remove in the future and some suggest (on another red tractor site) to use Indian Head only on the tapped cover and use heavy grease on the block. What do you seasoned veterans have to say here?

If you use it, and in the event that you have to remove the gasket, a little heat applied with a heat gun (not flame) will soften the sealer enough to facilitate removal.
