We couldn't figure out why the previous owner before Wendell welded on a flange. It reduces the exhaust some what, so probably was done to allow a smaller diameter inlet muffler. The inlet was originally a bit larger in diameter, now it's 2 inches, so a 2 inch ID inlet muffler will work.

I keep forgetting that I put that cover on so it gets shot off every time I start the tractor, well not every time, sometimes I do remember to take it off. :?

Hopefully, it doesn’t come down on your head when it blows off. :shock:

When I was younger I used to try to catch the tin can when it blew off the exhaust on our H..Sometimes it did not come down within reach though. :|
 
Here I am driving the H on a cool wintery Saturday, the first weekend of February, before the snow and sub-zero degree weather. I have since drove it again this past weekend.

still have 1 H left here, dont use it anymore --- no 3-pt. so it really dont do me any good. Some friends of dad's had H's they farmed with. Popular tractors in their time.
