IH disk

SONNY

501 Club
Got this at an auction,---auction pix. didnt show anything cept 1 back corner under weeds and trees laying across the rest of the disk. Anyway I was thinking maybe an 8' drag disk which I am looking for,---well no such luck! This thing is a BABY and useless!! At least its complete and not bent/broke from what I can tell. Guess I can use it to drag in the tile ditches if I stack enough weight on it. Blades are kinda thin on the bottom side where it sat for years down in the dirt but I can grind them a little to get a shiny edge on them so dirt dont ball up on the cutting edge. It rolls but the angle slides are stuck,--no biggie to loosen them up.
Gotta be an IH disk from the looks of the hitch but I never seen one this little before! IF it dont work on the tile ditches I can always junk it. ---- The mini skidloader will pull it over the ditches. Tractors are too wide for it to cover tracks in the garden so that use is out.

That is a 23A Disk Harrow, made for use with a Cub. They work great with a Cub (with track set fairly narrow).

It looks like it is in better shape than the one I have. If you find you can't make use of it, I'm sure somebody here will be happy to get your money back out of it.

Agree with Jim. Love mine. My cub is set at 40” and works good at that setting. If you use it with a non fast hitch cub, I’d advise using it with a swinging drawbar. Allows the cub to turn much sharper.

Dont think it will take much to free up the slides on it. The blades gotta be cleaned a bit and grind a sharp edge on them.
My cub has 9.5's on it and will only set in to 49" outside to outside of tires. any closer and they hit the fenders so it might still work. I have or had a swinging drawbar here in the junkpile somewhere under the bench with the fast hitch junk that never got hauled to the scrapyard yet.
I can pull it down the tile lines with the mini skidloader to level them off. Its only 39" wide.
Dont know if it can be set to drag more with the back than the front or not. I really need to drag dirt in and not push it away. Several passes will be needed. IF all else fails I can use the 12' wheel disk but didnt want to tear up that much grass in the waterways so this is actually the right width for what I need.
Thanks for the info on it!!!

That's a sweet disk..!! Tough to beat the job an old pull type disk will do. I'm still using this one Dad bought back in around 1958 for the Farmall A we had at that time. He made the culti-packer in the early 60's from whatever he could scrounge up. The lever adjust on the gangs makes it quick and easy to adjust the cut. Very handy to set to a light cut to work in cover crop seed.

He wore out the decent disk blades that were on it when he bought it, and replaced them with used one's off a buddy of mines larger disk. Just so happened the axles were the same size. These too are starting to show some wear, but should last me for as long as I need it.

I could pull this one down the waterways with the 140 too . Wont cover the wheels but wouldnt matter out there. It would run faster than the skidloader. Got the sprayer on the cub now. could always take it off and use the cub. Probably wont pull hard. Rolls across the yard easy.
