IDA

We got about 6-7 inches here, but no flooding issues like elsewhere. All our excess rain goes into the Potomac and then flows down to The Swamp.

I heard from Jim Foose, they are fine, but running on generators for now. Minimal damage to the house, said the neighbors got it worse than he did.

Hello all from the deep south . we came out not too bad , fairly minor damage . power out for 5 days (not bad for a cat 4 ) . i went to my daughters house in St. Rose ( south west of New Orleans ) , BAD :!: . no water , no power , LIVE OAKS KNOCKED DOWN  !!! power poles hanging over the road , wish i could photo , railroad barricades down , have to drive around , And south of them , IS WORSE !! Imagine, NO FOOD , NO WATER , NO ELECTRICITY , NO GASOLINE , FOR A WEEK + :!: ...........................................................

Val , I can sympathize with you. After Michael, some of us were out of power for weeks, some as high as 2 months. These were isolated cases of course but the average around here was between 1-3 weeks. I think what got us the worst though was the inattention we got. It was months before FEMA did anything for us. The national media ignored us and I guess it was because we were a rural area it hit. We had a complete town washed away and nothing left but concrete slabs. Usually when a storm come in on our part of the coast by the time it gets to my place it's down to 50-60 mph but Michael was still hitting 140 when it came over us. Scientists say global warming is causing stronger storms but if they get worse than Michael, I'm moving to Canada. God bless all of you and I am so thankful all of our cub buddies came through so good,

Sounds like fran, floyd, michael, florence, etc. here in eastern NC. When sandy hit the NE several years ago there were telethons, benefit concerts, etc. etc. etc. but we were in large part on our own.

Prayers and best wishes to everyone during your recovery. Been there, probably will be again before it's all said and done.

This is home but a week or so without electricity will make me thing about moving as far away from the coast as possible, every time.

Al
