I spent the day yesterday pulling the transmission out of my 185. It went pretty much like the manual said, except the PTO basket needed to be removed from the end of the shaft because I couldn’t get the creeper gear passed it and out the back of the frame. Otherwise, it was good
Right now, I have two big tires attached final drives attached to a transmission with a clutch stuck on the end of it sitting on one side of my garage and the tractor on the other. I know that the creeper gear has something wrong with the high range so that needs to come off, and I need to replace the 2nd to 3rd gear slider as well, because it’s shattered. My question is, I pulled the bolt that appeared to hold the clutch on, but the clutch doesn’t budge. If I remove the pressure plate and then the clutch disk, is there something hiding behind there that is preventing me from getting it Off the end of the transmission? I don’t really want to take the clutch off if I don’t have to, because everything is lined up now and ready to be played back onto the output shaft if I leave it alone, but if I can’t remove the creeper gear and access the internals of the transmission, I guess I don’t have a choice. What’s the verdict?
