Hydraulic Pump Rebuild

Are these the parts needed to rebuild a hydraulic pump?
TM Tractor Numbers
Stock# HY288 touch control pump gasket kit
Stock# HY396 touch control pump drive shaft o-ring
Stock# HY746 touch control pump drive gear kit
Stock# HY751 manifold tubes front flange o-ring (2)
Stock# HY310 manifold flange gasket
and 3.25 pints of oil.

Checked the oil today--it was overfilled by approx. 1 qt.,--hydraulic unit nearly empty. This would explain the smoking crankcase and poor performing hydraulic unit!!

I assume this is a fairly straight forward job?

Any special tools needed?

Thanks,

Tom has the kit as a whole as well. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but you'll remove the top left and bottom right bolts to remove the pump. The other two hold the pump together and you'll want to remove them after the pump is off the tractor.

If I have this backwards, a quick look at the bolt lengths will tell you which ones are the right ones to take out. If the bolt is long enough to go into the casting of the tractor then you're on the right track. If the bolt only looks long enough to seat inside the pump itself then remove the opposite two (upper left and lower right, or vice versa.

You may also need an o-ring not included in the kit, depending on the model of your pump. I still don't know exactly how to tell you whether you need an o-ring or a seal without physically removing the pump and looking.

And CLEANLINESS is a virtue to be adhered to when rebuilding the pump. I kept all the parts in a plastic ziploc until I got ready to reassemble and remount the pump.
