How to add a Water Temperature Gauge.

My '48 CUB came with an Oil Pressure Gauge & an Ammeter in the dash.
I think I'll move the Oil Pressure Gauge down to the port on the side of the engine.
I've seen several Cubs with it mounted there.
That gets rid of the hose running across the engine & the driver can see it easily from his seat.

Now I'd like to put a Water Temperature Gauge in the hole on the dash.
I'm just not sure where I can mount the Water Temp Sender.
I'm sure someone on here has installed a Water Temperature Gauge.
Is there a place to mount the sender or do I have to rig something on one of the hoses?

The Farmall Cub really doesn’t need a temp gauge. The thermal siphon system is pretty reliable at moving the coolant through the system at constant temperatures.
However, if you want to add a temp gauge you can drill a hole in the water neck and weld a threaded bung over the hole.
Keep in mind that the temperature of the coolant coming out of the water neck at that point is going to be the highest temperature “sometimes 200 degrees” before it enters the radiator and moves through system. This isn’t really giving you a good reading of the engine running temp since it is showing the temp of the coolant as it rises out of the head. It will likely return to the lower entry point of the engine at about 100 degrees. I have seen cub owners put a temp gauge at both ends to monitor through engine temp reduction.
Mostly cub owners who do this only find out that the temperature range rarely changes.

Someone asked me where I put the oil pressure gauge. On my 1948 Cub these is a port on the side of the oil filter. Remove the plug & screw in the gauge.

This would be in the summer when the outside temp is 80-90 Deg F. In the winter, the coolant temp coming out of the neck is way below 200 Deg F. The makes a lot of "milky white" sludge in the oil pan. I tried putting cardboard in front of the radiator, but that didn't help. If I could turn off the Fan, that would be good.
I try not to used my Cub much in the winter.

That milky white stuff in the oil pan which can also be seen under the dipstick cap is water that has condensed & mixed with oil - not good for the engine! I often see it in my ATVs & 4X4s. The only way to get rid of it is to run the engine hot for a long while. Blocking the air will work but that's exactly why I'm tempted to have a water temperature gauge. I've no idea what is "too" hot but if it gets to about 200 degrees, close to but not over the boiling point, that ought to be OK & get rid of any water.
 
I just found this image which shows a pressure gauge on the side of the oil filter AND another gauge, near the front & up under the hood, just above the generator. It has a wire or cable running up under the hood. It could be a temperature gauge or maybe a tachometer?
I'm not sure it's a Cub.
