Spent a bit of time this afternoon making some hooks that will be used for painting parts. The raw materials for the hooks were wire frames from political campaign signs and given our election system the supply is virtually unlimited, although sporadic. :) :)

I had three of the wire frames that I cut into 14" pieces with these,

My pattern was a hook used in the greenhouse industry to hang things,

A couple of C-clamps and some scrap steel of the needed dimensions,

Test fit the pattern,

And a few minutes later, very useble hooks to use for painting parts,

Good use of stuff that otherwise would just go to the landfill or a recycle yard if lucky. I like it. Nice hooks and a nice little how to :D

Bill, you're so precise! I just "eyeball" my curves!!

I had some old tomato cages (conical shape) I used for the same purpose. Looks to be about the same gauge wire as yours. Work great, stout and last forever.

Great tip!

Bill Mine are not near as nice as yours but have half of a old ext ladder supported on each end works real good to use these to hang your parts from the steps Ray

I have some made from tension wire from bottom of 6' high chain link fence. About one quarter inch in diameter, not pretty, but work real good.
