Hip Replacement

Oh boy!!!! My right hip is bad and bone on bone...I did make it to the Cub Tug and if you saw me,I was gimping around...They moved the date from mid October to Sept 4th...I can't wait!!!!! No motorcycles or much getting done on tractors...hurts to climb on and off of both...

Good luck Kevin. I hope all goes well. I know you were taking it a little easy at the Tug. A friend of mine had hers replaced several weeks ago and she seems to be getting around great.

Kevin I've had both of sides done, about 10 years apart. You'll never regret it. Whatever exercises they have you do while you are recuperating do 'em and don't be lazy. The surgery and recovery is not as bad as you think it might be.

Best of luck with the procedure! My mom and mother in law both had hips replaced and doing well! Following the rehabilitation is the key.
You'll be dancing again in no time!!

My brother had his replaced a few weeks ago, says it’s the best hip he’s ever had! We’re excited you, Kevin, just follow the advice mentioned above and I’m sure you’ll get along well.

My brother didn’t use the pain meds, either. They told him he couldn’t drive for x number of days, he later found out that was a liability precaution on the doctors behalf.

I never had the pain meds for either hip for other reasons...I took tylenol a couple of times and that's it. They have mastered the art of deadening nerves I guess.

I think they have developed ways to reduce the amount of trauma to bones and soft tissue. Surgeries 30-40 years ago were pretty brutal.
Yes that's true. My first hip replacement was done through a 4" incision. I had the surgery on a Thursday, went to church on Sunday and a job interview on Monday. I was walking with crutches of course.
The used to cut through your muscle but now they work between your muscles greatly reducing your recovery time.

Good luck Kevin. So far (I think) the hips are OK, but I had one knee R&R ed last Nov., the other in March. The little pain I had after the surgery was nothing compared to the bon And e on bone I put up with before I finally bit the bullet. Like others said, the therapy is essential. Take care, they tell me parts are hard to find for us older models! And there isn't a core charge on the replacement.

Well ,today is the day....They are going in from the front...2 holes...ice packs and stuff ready.....hoping I don't need the hard pain killers.....Ice ,from what I hear is best...swelling and pain...Got bags of peas and ice...kind of scared....never been gased before!!!!😳😳😳😳
