Help!

We traded 2 Texas Longhorns for a 1948 Farmhall H tractor that has been restored and painted within the last month or so. I need to sell it, but haven't had any luck. I haven't put it on this site yet, but will soon. I have pictures and a laundry list of what was done to it. I have it on Craigslist for $4,000. It has a blade too.

I really need to sell it asap. Any suggestions? Please call us at 606-877-8698 or let me know here what to do.
 
Post the link to your CL ad. Are pictures included in the ad? In my area you're lucky to get 2500 for a restored H. Of course a lot depends on the quality of restoration. Good luck!

Last ag consignment auction in this area, central Missouri, you would be lucky to get a high bid of $800-. Just a guess on the $800-, based upon high bids on other tractors in the auction line. Normally a field work ready H will sell for under $1000- in this area.
 
I bought my H last fall just up I-75 near Walton for under $1,500.00. It is in pretty good shape. A restored one would probably be in the $2,000+ range around here.
 
The bull was worth $1,500 and the cow was worth $3,000. I'm sick to my stomach right now. They guy showed me ones in Missouri that were for sale for $12,000. Right now we will take just about anything. I bought a bull from Texas out of the #1 bull in the country and a world record holder in horn length. I have to pay for this boy.

We live just outside of London, KY. We are great people, we just need to sell this tractor. For some reason the site won't let me put up an add. If anyone wants to see the tractor go to Craigslist Lexington and look for 1948 Farmall H Tractor. I just reduced it to $3,000 OBO. We don't even know how to turn it on. My husband said I could trade it for a registered young Hereford cow (preferably pregnant) or even an unbred heifer. We only want a Hereford though to breed with our longhorn bull (those babies are just to eat). My husband is a Texan and other than longhorns that's the only other breed we will have on the property. Sorry to say, you got the short end of the deal. Tractor might go for $1750 - 2500. One that was exquisitely restored, for parade duty only, might go for $3000. Maybe somewhat more if a Woods mower and a blade included. Good luck.
 
Oops, pardon me - you have an H not a Cub. But H's don't seem to bring that much of a premium over a Cub, even though they are a substantially larger tractor.
 
Yeah FOR SALE for $12,000. You can ask as much as you want, but the question is, is anyone BUYING at that price? If it's for sale and the ad is more than a couple days old, it's overpriced.

IH made 379,000+ H's from 1939 to 1953. They are the most numerous, most common, IH tractor of all time.

One thing that will boost the value are the tires these days. The tires can double the value of a Farmall H if they're new or nearly new. Tire prices are out of this world, and a smart cookie will recognize the value of new tires on the tractor.

Not saying this to rub it in, just trying to educate so you can make a more informed decision next time.
