Grinding Noise

I recently got a 1946 B running. Swapped all fluids and when I drive:
In gear moving, it sounds like there's no gear fluid. Kinda rough grinding.
Push clutch in but still rolling and no noise.
Is this normal?
Also, on one side at the hub fluid is leaking on the wheel. Any idea which gasket/ seal would be the most likely culprit?

First time posting. Great forum.

From that description, it does not sound normal. Noise that sounds like a whine is not unusual, maybe not normal but can be ignored. Anything like a clunk, squeal, or grind needs to be investigated. A bad bearing, for example, may make noise under a load but be silent when just turning without a load. Does the noise vary depending on what gear it is in? Higher gears put more load on the front bearings while lower gears put more to the back.

The most likely leak at your hub is the seal on the outer end of the axle. You should be able to trace the oil up from the bottom of the final drive housing to the probable source. You may need to clean it all off and start with the area cleaned up.

Thank you Jim. I just ordered some parts for the carb and a gasket kit for each hub. After I get that fixed up I'll run it and check it in all gears. Do you know what gear oil I should be running in the gear box and for the hubs?
It sat for 15 years and the gear box had rust. I cleaned it real good with vinegar, sprayed wd40 , drained it real good then put 85-140 using the two weep holes on the side to gauge fill. I was going to run it for a short period then swap the gear oil out again.

Rust floating around in there could cause or at least add to your grinding noise. If you got it cleaned out of the bearings, you may find the noise reduced. Original oil was SAE 90. I think most people use 85-140 or 80W-90. Either are okay. I have used 80W-90. There is a level plug on the left side of the transmission, towards the front. It is partly blocked by a brake rod.
