Yeah I noticed in his Pic you can see the black shining in the sun a little. Looks really good! I just hope I don't break off the tabs on the back taking the old screen out
You can find 1/4" hardware cloth at Ace, Home Depot, etc. If you want 5 squares/inch, Steiner carries it. Probably other sources too, like McMaster-Carr.
When I mow, I put my little screen "bib" across the grill to catch all those pesky seed & bits of grass, etc. When I'm done, I simply unclip it, shake it and set it aside. It also helps prevent light brush scratches!

I have 4 '55 Cubs that are used to mow our property ( approx 8 acres of our 20). As you probably know, they have the 11-bar grill with the welded-wire screen behind it. When the weather is dry, cut grass blows all around and goes through that 1/4" screen, and packs into the radiator, requiring removal of the grill to allow cleaning. To avoid that hassle, I decided to add an easily cleanable/removable exterior screen, and it only took me about 1 hour to make all four out of available materials.
Cheap fiberglass screen material I had:
Free paint stirrer, turned so...
I did break a couple of those tabs...just have to bend very carefully, and maybe in a slightly different spot.
