Grill Choice - Just for Kicks...

Hey guys!

It was WARM today in the northland, so I got a chance to get out and play with Merlin and Roland for a little bit today. As a thank you from Todd W for my help in helping with his tractor split, Todd gave me his grille that had formerly resided on Big Red. I had mentioned a while back that the cub I grew up on, Betsey, was a 4-bar tractor and I was partial to them...in white of course! Well... one of the things that I played around with today was a "fashion show" for Merlin.

I would like to get your opinion as to which grille should reside on Merlin permanently. I know that the mesh is "correct". I also know that it is my tractor and I can do with it what I wish. So, the poll today is which of these grilles should I put on Merlin:

Original Mesh Style Grill from Ralph's Cubs on Merlin

4-Bar Grille (White or Red) from Todd W in Appleton

Whichever grille isn't on Merlin may well end up on Roland when he is done... not sure yet!

I know you have sentimental ties to the four-bar, however, go whole hog with the eleven-bar.

I like the 4 bar in red but if I had the choice I would go with an 11 bar in red, it looks more like the bigger Farmalls.

All of the grilles are nice... hard to pick a favourite. I personally like the mesh grilles. Probably cause I haven't seen that many of the newer ones up here a lot.

I like em all, except that mesh. I you do the white grill you kinda have to do the white panel on the hood to make it look right. White in just one place looks a little lonely. And I think the 56's look really nice. Joe

I am with keeping the original mesh one on it, but if you like the other one.... ya know what they say, it's your Cub, do what makes you happy. (I also like the looks of the 11 bar)

It's been a while since I've been on a tractor, but I remember that Scruffy is a much better tractor since he got the 11 bar grille.

As much as I like that pose on the tractor, Boss, I have to say that I am NOT going to go whole hog (get it!) and go the square nose look...

Unfortunately, I don't have the 11 bar grille, so my choices are the mesh or 4-bar...

Roland can have the mesh...you don't want both tractors to be identical IMHO.

the best choice here isn't even listed. You might be happy with the tie dyed grill that robert miller just got on a cub in that haul he made.
