Grader Blade mount question?

Yesterday I picked up a grade/snow blade for what i think was a good price. I was very suprised and happy to find it had the top extension on it. It seems to be in good shape but a little rusty, nothing a etank cant handle. When I got my cub it came with a mount which i believe was from a plow. It hung down under the belly from the steering housing and two brackets that bolt to the right side of the torque tube. heres a picture.

the plow that I got yesterday seems to mount differently, it has 2 brackets that seem to come together and possibly bolt to each side instead of on the right side . I checked the parts manuals and the grader blade manual on the manual server, but I just not getting it. can someone help me and give me some advice on which mount I should use? here are pictures of the plow.

I got it for 200 does seem like a good price also. Thanks all

the long bolt is suppose to go through the behind the steering box, there should bo two blocks with holes in them. the part coming back toward the driver bolts to the side of the bell housing. it looks like what is on the blade will work, except i dont see the blocks.

I had to get the blocks which I did, so I should not use the original one? the one on the plow looks like it will bolt one on each side, instead of both on the right side. this is the original one from my cub

Looks like you are missing the bracket that mount to the torque tube, the blocks that go slide into the bolster, and the bracket that mounts to the touch control. There should also be a bushing that goes into the hole on the pivot arm. Here's what mine looks like

It's good that you have the two blocks. I didn't see them or the spacer in your pics.

The blocks I have alrready, the bracket that bolts to the touch control is that a half moon looking one that the lift mechanism bolts to? the pivot arm does have a bushing in it.

I haven't seen one hooked to torque tube like that. But I am thinking that way may be better than the way my stock setup is. The way it is bolted to two mounting pads should spread the stress on it from hitting a solid object while plowing.

Looks like go have an original Mckormick deering blade, if i remember correctly you don`t need the plate for the torque tube as the arm has the holes in itYuor blade appears to be in very good shape plus it has the exstention plate, the only drawback is your have to remove bolts to angle the blade

I saw a very nice way to make it hydraulic instead of manual... Thank you ricky racer and rick prentice.

This is a picture of a McCormick-Deering Leveling and Grader Blade. (Part of one anyways)

The blade you bought is a Cub 54 Leveling and Grader Blade.

Go to the manuals link above and look under "Cub Implement Manuals" for "Cub 54 Leveling and Grader Blade" and the McCormick-Deering Blade is listed under "Cub Grader Blade Manuals".

So which mount would be the better of the two to use?

Short answer is-Yes, both will work

The one that came with your cub will spread the "pressure" out.

If I use the one that came with the plow I think I will need to find the bracket that attaches to the tube, and maybe the ones that go to the touch controls as well. Hope they are still around

I have parts of the early blade (and a complete one on the way), the Cub-54 blade and most of a Cub-54-A blade as well as a bunch of other parts. As BD suggested ... do not mix the parts or you will end up with a frankenstein setup and that won't be pretty or useful :( ..... ask me .. btdt ... :big give up: It can get very confusing and you have to consult the parts catalog all of the time.

Congrats :applause: though on acquiring the early one as well. Keep those parts and you should end up with a complete one after a while. Although not really as useful as the later ones, but they sure make a nice piece to take to a show :!:

For front use you don't need the bracket on the touch control arm. Put the end of the round rod in the hole in the touch control arm, put a washer on the rod and then a cotter key or K clip in the hole on the rod. It'll work just fine. The bracket that attaches to the torque tube is a flat piece of metal with three holes, easy enough to fabricate. I'm sure I've seen dimensions listed in a previous post, try a search and see. Alternate is put an ad in the wanted section, I'm sure somebody has an extra lying around, might just fit in a small flat rate box, or even an envelope, so shipping shouldn't be to bad.

I wanted to use it to grade my drive. So ill have to figure out what brackets for the rear mount. Thanks for all the advice guys.

To grade your drive, belly mount it and don't use either set of those brackets you've been worrying about. Look at the belly mounted pictures on TM's web site.
