Front tire "thump" and wheel angled

Took delivery of a restored 1948 Farmall Super A yesterday. Took it for a short drive (road) and on the way back the front driver side tire had a "thump" to it. I thought something might be in the tire but no. I also noticed the wheel looks a little crooked (angled) compared to the other side. Any ideas?

if you mean the tire is pointed in that can be adjusted with the tie rods, should be adjust to 1/* to 1/4 " toed in on both sides

If you are able, you might jack up the front and see if you have play in that right spindle where the steering arm attaches.

It's hard to tell whether yours has the straight-through bolt or the tapered bolt.
It's possible if it is the tapered bolt, that it has either wallered out or the tip has broken off.

Also, while you have it up, check and see if there's any apparent wobble in the hub indicating either bad bearings or loose nut.

Hi,
If you mean the tire bumps up and down, it could have a flat place on it that makes a bumping feeling when driven. I would be sure the tires have the right pressure, and aren't low on air.

Below is a page from the Super A operator's manual, telling about adjusting the front wheel toe in.

The Super A operator's manual can help you learn about maintenance that the Super A needs.
Below is the Super A operator's manual. The experts on here recommend people read it. It has lots of info about operation, maintenance, and lubrication. There is an index beginning on page 74.
It shows how the Super A originally looked in it. The lube section begins on page 20.
There is a tire inflation table telling what pressures to use on page 53.
I sent you a message, you get to it at the upper right of the page. :)

If you're describing the vertical position of the tire being slightly more outboard at the top vs the bottom that's not unusual. There's no adjustment of that position that I'm aware of. Just ensure there's no bearing issues and the bearing tension by the nut is properly adjusted. The exception is somewhere in the past there has been some damage to some part of the front end assembly. JMHO Stan

What you’re all looking at is called positive camber. It’s an intentional part of the design of the tractor steering, to facilitate better cornering traction in a turn.
