Fork lift

:?: Today I picked up a Yale forklift that is powered by a C60
IH engine. The motor is free but does not run. I worked on it a few hours tonight after we got at home and it has spark, so that is one good sign the carburetor has been removed, so I reinstalled it, cranked it over a few times and it misfired so I checked spark plug wires and they were mixed up so it has been corrected but I can’t seem to get gas up to the spark plugs. The spark plugs seem dry when I pull them out only one cylinder firing once in a while I don’t know if something is plugged in because the carburetor was off or if it has low compression and I will do a compression check later tomorrow I have put seafoam in to soak overnight and get some lubrication down the cylinders my question is does anyone else have this type of forklift in their collection? Is it worth saving or should I just pull the motor ? I was kind of going to put this engine in one of my tractors and junk the rest of it

Personally, I find a forklift very useful. I have an 130 with and IH1000 that has forks I use it a lot to move implements on skids and down trees

If the Yale has field tires I would think about keeping it.

This morning I got back to it and worked on a leaky carburetor put a jumper wire on the coil to the battery because the wiring was all screwed up. Also, the battery was hooked up backwards when I got it I fix that and then proceeded to do a compression test. All cylinders were above 110 psi, which is good for a quick check yesterday I had switch store, spark,CT

By noon I had it running after I switched wires to the way the guy had them turns out the distributors out of time so number three spark plug is actually number one right now. All is good. Has oil pressure runs like a sewing machine only problems now no brakes. Also I didn’t mention earlier it didn’t come with any forks, so I’m still debating about taking the engine out.

After just getting off the phone calling a local Yale dealer and coming up empty-handed I thought I’d reach out one more time to see if anybody can give me any information. I’ll start with the serial number on the Yale&Town forklift
KG51TJ-15U model number 523156 serial number. It has a bell housing manufacturing company of Griten Auto supply Inc
Milwaukee, Wisconsin manufacture date of 9-24-1959Milwaukee, Wisconsin manufacture date of 924 of 59
The engine serial number is UCUBM6101 if anybody has any info where I can find brake cylinders and a mast bushing
I think i can find a set of forks to attach to the mast. I will just have to relocate the carriage position on the forks because it has a 17 1/4 carriage. Thank you to anyone who has information.

Manufacturers used readily available, common standard parts for their machines.

Brake cylinders, something standard. Could have been for a Ford, Chevy, IH, Etc., car or truck. Once identified, auto parts store.

Mast bushing, something standard.

Edit. There are several brake cylinders listed for Yale on Amazon/Ebay. You will need to remove to identify. They appear to be standard automotive brake cylinders.

Another edit. We used to hone brake cylinders and install a kit: new seals, a spring, end caps.
