Good day, I’m confused on my 1942 Ford 2n it’s a 6v but only will start and run if I put the positive terminal solenoid and the ground to the ground wire to the frame. Is this right and my generator no charging. Thanks I’m new at these tractors.

Not enough information to answer your question. I think you're going to need a wiring diagram to determine what's what with the wiring. OEM from the factory the electrical system was positive ground but that's 75+ years ago and much could have been changed (including converted to a 12v system). Probably not a lot different from early Farmalls/Cubs and you could probably use those diagrams and make it work. Search the FARMALL CUB forum for some diagrams. JMHO Stan

Keep in mind, early 1942 2Ns did not have electrical systems, but was magneto.
