For sale - 1955 Cub ... One too many here for shed space!

Dale Finch

501 Club
Last year I bought another '55 cub...I just can't help myself!! 😂
I already have three '55s and one '56.

If you were at last year's LA Cubfest, you probably saw me working on it right after I bought it, where I fairly quickly got it running and have since done quite a bit of work on it: replacing two repaired finals, seals, etc, plus regular servicing, and last week I adjusted the clutch.

I have done very little as far as cosmetics, but it's in pretty good shape anyway.

The problem is, now that it's ready to be taken out to the farm and put to work, I'm faced with the situation that I have no covered space for it. I knew that from the beginning, of course, but as I said I just couldn't help myself from buying another 11-bar grill tractor!

So with the LA cubfest coming up again, and my commitment to doing a Cub Express for a couple of our members, I've decided that instead of bringing a cub to work on, if someone would like to buy this cub, I can deliver it to the LA cubfest.

I added a draw bar, and planned to install a woods 42 mower...the mule drive is already installed. So I can sell it with or without a mower. There are no other implements with it. I can send a complete list of work that was done and parts that were added/replaced, plus photos of everything that was done along the way! (Everyone knows how OCD I am with documenting my work!!)

Let me know if there's any interest, because if nobody speaks up for it, I'll wait until the Barnyard Bash in June, and maybe deliver it there if someone wants it.

I have hundreds of photos, and I can post them or send them after I get home tomorrow from the farm... they are on my computer.

When the gentleman came to pick up the mower I just sold, he made a comment about how easy it would be to add on to my current shed! I just groaned... I'm having a hard enough time keeping up with the general maintenance on the five cubs and 3 golf carts I have!

Speaking of that, anyone want to buy a couple non-running EZGO gas golf carts?!

What do you know about the condition of the non-running golf carts Dale?

They both ran fine, and now they crank but won't start. I really don't have any interest in troubleshooting these guys, so I took them to a golf cart service place, and was told that because of their age (early/mid '90s), they aren't worth fixing!

I hate it when folks say that things like that. If that were true, most of our Cubs wouldn't be running! But I still don't really enjoy the idea of working on these!

Since they quit running, I bought an older Bobcat 2200 4-seater work cart made by Club Car. So far it's still running 😂, and has a lot more power than the little EZGO golf carts. But I really like the Red "IH" Cub!

Well, now I know I'm the world's best procrastinator! I haven't even followed up on this post, haven't worked on the tractor, haven't worked on the golf carts... Oh my!

I've got one week to get my trailer loaded with items that I'm Cub Expressing to the LA cubfest, and still haven't decided if I'm bringing something of my own.

But if anyone is interested in buying the cub or the non-running golf cart, let me know right now. Otherwise I will leave them home.
I offered to rebuild a touch control block for a guy nearby, so maybe I'll just stick with that as my cubfest project.

I might just bring the cub to the Barnyard Bash at the end of May, and do some more puttering on it. After driving it around last week to try and work some seafoam into it, I shut it down and noticed the front seal was leaking a bit. That would be a good project to do it the Bash.

It's hard to resist buying cool old stuff! I keep picking up old vintage chainsaws and over the winter I acquired several old Ariens snowblowers. I fixed some and sold a few but still have a couple in the garage taking up space now haha!

I'd love to pick up another Cub, but like you I have no more space to keep it out of the weather. My garage, lean to, and shed are all full haha! I should build a little shelter but then I'll just fill that up too.

Good luck with the sale! Sounds like a good deal to me.
