First real snowfall of the season

Don McCombs

Got our first real snowfall of the season here in Mountain Maryland. About 6-7 inches. Very unusual to be this late. All the previous snows have been less than one inch. Tough to accurately measure with the windy conditions. Will probably all melt in the next several days. Yippee!

Your system passed us by on Wed PM into Thurs AM. Went south of me, didn't snow a flake. We've only had one snowfall, less than an inch.

Like you, temps here are supposed to be above average in the next 7 days.

Don, looks like you got a little more snow than we did in Baltimore, but you are right about the wind. For the driveway I always use the Cub to plow the snow, but prefer to use a snow blower around the garage. Today I saw an add in the local Craigslist for a cub cadet snow blower that would be perfect on windy days.

As long as you can keep the spray off it and store it so it lasts.

That wind screen would be nice as when I used my snowblower I always ended up looking like a snowman. It would do our drive very clean but took soooo much longer than the Cub or SA with a blade.

Our first snow was New Years day, 2 inches. Just enough to justify getting the Cub Cadet out to push snow.
Everything but the piles where it had been plowed anywhere had melted, then we got another shot on Friday night, 3/4". Not enough to play with. It is snowing right now but they are only calling for a dusting.
This is the first winter since I've had a drivers license that I'm not plowing for a town/township, so I've been out on the CC any chance I can to play in it.

I'll have to snap some pictures of my snowplow at the farm, I converted an old Meyer snowplow to fit a 3-pt hitch.

Our first really good snow! 1/17/2022

Maybe I'll plow it tomorrow! Maybe!

Snow drifts up to 24"
