final drive pipe brace

can anyone tell me why there is a pipe between my final drives on my 48 Cub? I did not have this pipe on my 47 Cub. What bis this, and do i need the pipe or brace? thanks

Dave,
I would take a close look at all the castings for the rear end. Could be a "farmer fix" for cracks or broken bolt holes.
...or it could have been a homemade "drawbar" of sorts.

makes sense. After power washing frame
i see a brazing weld on the transfer case. Does not leak transmission fluid so I'm going leave it alone. Thanks
