Anytime have experience cutting tall brush (3ft or so) with one of these mowers? I have a property to cut where the loboy with the flail mower would work well ...where the SC and the JD 3020 can't get to.

It the grass is dry the flail mower will cut it. You may have to do a few passes.

The Flail does not mulch the grass. So you end up with piles of dead grass especially if it is 3' high.

You may have to go in 2 or 3 times at different deck heights to really clean it up.

Agree with the above. You will also find that long grass/weeds will wrap on the knife shaft, requiring periodic clearing.

Flail mowers work pretty good as lawn mowers, depending on the type of grass. Stringy grass will wind up around the cutter bar.

They are not designed to cut brush, woody plants.

I have used a flail mower to trim up small portions of pasture grass. It takes a number of passes and is very slow going.

You didn't indicate the size of the land you want to clean up.
