I have fast hitch plow for my 48 cub.I can not get the plow to go deep enough. Can anyone give me some
advice for best he settings or a picture or diagram to see I I am missing parts

Hi,
The Fast Hitch came out on Cubs in late 1954, so a 1948 Cub would have had the hitch added by someone. They could have left parts off, but hard to say without pics of it.

Below are pages from the 1955 Cub operator's manual of a Fast Hitch.
You can see if something is missing.
Not all the hitches had the lever on the right side, IH changed to a crank adjustment to adjust the height of the front of the bail.

If you have the hitch with the lever to the right of the seat, the links on the bail need to be set so the front of the bail is as low as it goes.
The crank hitch has no links.
Below is a page showing the links, and the adjustment of them.

Set the lever so it is all the way forward, so the plow will go into the ground as you begin plowing, or turn the crank so the bail is down.
Don't try to push down with the Fast Hitch, you can bend the lift rod.
The hitch is supposed to be free to float up and down when plowing.
Move the stop collar near the rear of the lift rod forward about 6", so the Touch Control can go fully down, when the plow is on a level surface, then the hitch can float up and down.
If you have a 1 bottom number 194 Plow, they sometimes don't go in the ground well in hard soil.
I remember my friend had that problem with his. :)

I think a part that keeps the plow from on moving to the left is missing. What keeps the plow from moving to the left side?

Hi,
JP Tractor Salvage at the bottom of the page might sell individual Fast Hitch parts, I don't know.
You could place a want ad in The Vine section of this website. Click on Board Index at the top left of the page, and scroll down to it.

The plow is supposed to be free to move from side to side when plowing, but the hitch should have all the parts too.
It would probably move too far without the Diagonal Link there. :)

My fast hitch plow never worked, until this year I read the post on how to set it up. It plows almost to deep if your not careful.
Front and rear wheel spacing, position of the hitch on the bar, and some other things. Read the how to here, take your time setting up and it should work.

You should start a new post. Your old post is almost fours years old and the subject of your question has changed. You will get a response quicker, and it helps those I the future who are searching for an answer to the same question.
