When I look at my Cub identification plate it says it is an FCub, serial number 37281. However when I get on line to order parts I am constantly wondering if I am ordering the right part cause I never see F Cub listed they will say fits A, B, C, H but I never see F series listed. Am I going blind was there an F Cub series? If so how do you match the parts or where can you get F Cub parts?

The F Cub designation for the standard cub. the others are Lowboy and numbered series lowboy's. Just ignore the F. You want to order parts for a Cub. Best place for new parts is TM, one of our sponsors.

Art,

Short, non technical answer, F is the "regular" cub, vs. a LoBoy. Your parts should be for a Cub, not an "A", "B", etc. By your serial number you have a '48. I highly recommend using TM Tractor Parts for new parts, they are a site sponsor, have many parts, priced competatively, ship fast and Tom is a wealth of information, just ask when ordering if you have any questions. Take a few minutes and surf his site, there is a wealth of information there.

Good luck,

Technically, the F-Cub on the SN plate stands for Farmall Cub. IH-Cub will identify the Lo-Boys and the New IH Cub which encompassed the Yellow and White Cubs. Cannot say square nosed Cubs because there were red Farmall Cubs. When you order parts, you can request the parts for a Cub or a Farmall Cub. If you parts counter person does not know what a Farmall Cub is, well -- you will be able to educate him. When you need parts, check with the parts catalog and actually print the page/s showing the parts you need. Then you take those with you to the dealer and there will be no chance of a mistake. You will be a well prepared customer and your local parts counter person will become better for it as well.

All Lo-Boys had IH Cub as the model ons the Serial Number Tag. All New IH Cubs had IH Cub as the model on the Serial Number Tag -- New IH Cubs 1975-1979 - EOP. Most of the yellow and white Cubs from what I understand had the IH Cub on the tag to match the Lo-Boy convention, although not all. Where the breaks are I am not sure.. that will require Jim or others who are a lot more knowledgeable on the SN Tag changes.
