Ever used Lucas Hydraulic Booster & Stop Leak?

I've got a Farmall 400 that has slow/weak hydraulics, making the bucket raise and lower very slowly. I know the Lucas stuff won't ultimately 'fix' a large mechanical issue, but I'm wondering if you guys have had any luck temporarily boosting hydraulic performance with the Lucas Booster & Stop Leak.

Thanks guys.

You really have nothing to lose, give it a shot and see if it helps. Worst case is that you still have to find the problem and make repairs. I've seen that stuff work more than once, in power steering systems.

Since you just got this tractor, I am going to guess that you have never seen the hydraulics and loader work any better than they are working right now. There may not be anything "wrong" with the hydraulics. Lift cylinders on a loader are the largest ones most tractors are likely to ever operate. Most tractors can be fitted with different sized hydraulic pumps. Loaders generally call for the larger pumps. They also often require larger fluid reservoirs so the reservoir won't run empty before the loader is raised all the way. If somebody just mounted the loader and used the existing hydraulics without dealing with pump or reservoir sizes, you may be seeing expected behavior.

Verify what you have and make sure there is a problem before you try to fix it. No magic elixer will make the reservoir larger.
