Digital Calipers

It will get you in the ballpark on some things. Things like the pistons you can't get to the middle with a caliper that small or anything that is bigger than the jaws are long. Also you can't check the bore down past the first 1/2". If you want to do all that you need micrometers and telescoping gauges.

Could you give some recommendations what I would need for my Super C?

I have Dan Gingell's engine overhaul DVD coming. It's probably over my head, but I have his tune up video and enjoy watching it.

I am biased towards name brand measuring items, Starrett, Brown & Sharpe, Mitutoyo, etc. It's how I make my living, I don't trust cheap measuring equipment.

If you are tearing it all the way down, you will probably have to carry it to a machine shop anyway, they would have all the stuff to measure it for you and you wouldn't have to buy any measuring tools for one job.
