Getting back to you a little late, but I have an answer for what the above number is. Its actually the transmission PN, stamped into the housing after IH ground off the original PN. Only the last of the Cubs had this done. There should be a "R1" stamped in there somewhere.

I've looked back through the database, and Im gonna go out on a limb and say the "2 79" is the date code.

Came across this cub at Thomas Point Beach in Brunswick, ME while there for the Bluegrass Festival. Sorry I couldn't get more info, my daughter was too anxious to get to the playground!

S/N 226091J
Engine S/N FCUBM249174, date code of 6/7/L
TC date code of (blank)/8/L

Not 100% on the engine S/N or the casting codes as it looks like its seen some time out doors...

Okay, Raymond,
I have all but 3 numbers. The cylinder head, and touch control casting numbers I couldn't find but I've got everything else.

Cylinder head casting # (can't find)
Bolster casting # 11-13-B
Torque tube casting # 12-6-B

Touch control casting # (can't find) there is a small flat spot (like the engine serial # spot) on the left side of the touch control just above where the hydraulic lines are attached that reads " 2 79" not sure what that's all about.

Hello Raymond! I have a "new" cub to add to the database! Bought it about a month ago, and am cleaning it up, converting it to 12v, and getting it in shape to do some mowing next year. It is in VERY good condition; quite pleased with him..."BEN" ! :big smile:

Some of these numbers don't follow in sequence to your table. Tractor in is NE and I'm in KS and
got this from pics I took.
