Cub Lowboy HP

you would have to have a VERY expensive rebore job done to them and then only gain 1 or 2 hp more! Nuttin wrong with what they got ---they are NOT a tractor to start with they are a lawnmower!!!

Thanks Sonny, I have a 154 and a 184, plus 12 acres of grass! They both do a nice job and I can except that, but a little more HP would be nice. Thanks for the come back! PJ

Would an A engine fit up?
Given enough $$, time and energy most anything is possible. Take a look at the Cubota modification. Practical? Not for me, I don't have the $$, knowledge/skills or time for it. Stan

Neither one of the pics posted are Cubota, Cubota is has a Kubota 4 cylinder Diesel. the first pic is Barnyards Harley Cub with a Chrysler 3.6 liter Mini Van engine.

Has anyone ever come up with a way to up the horsepower a bit on a IH cub? I think the 154-185 and 184 all have the same engine. PJ
Order a gov spring from a 154 and you will get a few more rpms. That will equal a small increase. The cast pistons were replaced with aluminium for a bit more. The dome pistons gave a little. I think the intake manifold was a little bigger too.

you can re-power BUT at more $$$$$ and still not get the results you expect! ----for 12 acres i would use a real tractor and 16' batwing mower!!
