Cub express - questionable options

The seat brackets look like those on an A and the arm that holds the steering wheel looks thicker like a A vs. a Cub. Either way I'm using a trailer for anything.
 
It's a Super A. Folks laugh, but I've hauled heavier in the back of a 1/2 ton pickup. For example, a full pallet of soybean seed is around 3,000 lbs. (We won't even talk about pulling a 1000 gallon nurse tank full of 30% nitrogen!)

for the older members who would remember Dale Shaw, , this reminds me of him and how his truck was packed when he sowed up at cubfest

That is an A or Super A in that truck bed, do the measurements, that tractor wont fit. However a Cub will fit, back in the 60's and 70's it was not unusual to see a Cub being transported in the bed of a pick up truck.
 
Definitely a Super A. It weighs about 2,400. It also has wheel weights for about 300 more. Cultivators add about 200, along with front UMF and rear rockshaft at about 150. That puts it at about 3,050 plus fuel, coolant and possible fluid in tires. I wonder if the big bend in the tailgate happened when it was being loaded or it that is older damage. It looks to me like the steering support is bent down. So, it has probably already been upside down at least once. I also like the tie-down chain that is draped across the rear cultivator bars with the end of the chain just hanging there.
 
I shouldn't admit this, but we had driven my new 2007 Chevy Express to the RPRU in Pa. where the Cub was featured. I was trying to figure out if one would fit in the van if I took the steering post off! Unfortunately I didn't have enough money with me to try it, probably a good thing I didn't have a Debit Card then or I'd have tried it.
 
Is there anyone hear who can say they have never overloaded something, a truck or trailer? I can remember Dad giving me a load of something like 3200 pounds in an International 3/4 ton pickup. It did not hit bottom however as it was equipped with overload springs. 3/4 ton was still suppoused to be the max. That poor truck was often overloaded. Vern

Thats also known as 3 lbs. in a 2 lb. sack. I had 3000 lbs. of mason sand in a 64 Chevy 3/4 ton with coil springs and lock ring tires. I told the loader operator to keep putting it in (my kids had a big sandbox). When I pulled on the scales I about broke my neck when I climbed out if the truck, Too proud to drive back to the pile and shovel some off, so I paid for it and stopped at the first gas station and put 100 lbs of air in the 15" tires, drove home at about 30 mph to keep the front end on the road. That truck sure steered easy though:)
 
When we lived in our previous house I was extending our driveway to the back of the house The gravel pit was abour 3/4 of a mile away. I took my 1977 3/4 ton Chevy truck to the pit and told the loader operator to dump a load of B19 into the bed until I said to stop. When the springs got close to the stops I waved him off. As I pulledout of the pit and up to the scale I noticed the operator following me. He got out of the loader and said he jus had to see how much weight I had. He couldn't believe it when I showed him the weight slip that said I had 4200 pounds. I drove slow on the way home. It took me a while to shovel it all off, but my 2 and a half year old daughter did bring me a beer as I worked. By the way, when I set the beer down I happened to catch her sneaking a drink out of my can. To this day, I still wouldn't haul a Cub in my pick-up
 
its all well and good til a cop thats behind on his months ticket writing OR one tha somebody ticked off earlier! Thay will impound everything PLUS give you a fine costing more than truck and load are worth and possible jail term, so you just lost everything by being stupid!! IF you dont have the right hauler---leave stuff where it is til you do!!!
