Has anyone tried this? I see a lot of the old Cadet tillers for sale. If you've done so, can you describe your set-up?, mounting, belt, etc. I know tractor speed is an issue, but figure a few passes might be effective in my garden.
Not exactly, but Rick Prentice built a 3-point hitch and attached a Model 15 Tiller to his cub.
Regarding speed, put the tractor in neutral and let the tiller do the pushing. Use the brakes to control the speed.
Rick didn't use a cadet tiller. He used one from the numbered series (PTO driven) but adapted it for use with a cub.
To adapt another piece of equipment for use with a cub, you are probably better off mounting a motor to the implement and making it self powered. (or purchase something like this)
Other options include finding a Hub City PTO speed reducer to convert your PTO to a 540RPM that turns the correct direction.
And then making a 3-point hitch for your cub. This is one another member made.
Then, pick up a regular 540 RPM implement. This would be the highest cost option. Might be cheaper to buy a numbered series tractor with the implement.
OK, thank you for all of the information. It doesn't seem to be an easy option. A Cub disc that can be lifted (a 28 I think) would fit my needs. As the barn is down the road a piece from the garden, I need to be able to transport over the road. But they are not easy to find hereabouts. Thanks again.
