Cub cadet 1200 reaches new heights

Got this baby to fire off yesterday, I had to clean up the point contact surfaces and use a jumper wire to the coil.

Gonna have to chase down the wire hack job.

Someone added a (chinese junk) push button starter switch. (I imagine to bypass a faulty clutch safety switch)

I think it woulda been easier to replace the clutch pedal safety switch than to go through all the trouble they did!!!

Some of these had a switch on the seat, a switch on the pto lever, a switch on the brake to interrupt the power to the coil I’m not sure which one you have there,

I found the wiring schematic in the manuals section.

This one has the safety switch on the clutch pedal.

No seat switch!

The pto is electric!

Well....... I removed the (generic toggle) aftermarket pto switch with its direct to the battery wire and put the original pto switch back where it was supposed to go.

Hooked the ground for the hour meter back up. It works, but the sun damaged the plastic lens and it is all blurry.

Got it back where the key will start it! :)

Dang thing will not run without a battery though! :(

Charges 14v, but will not stay lit when I remove the jumper cables!

I was hoping to take it for a ride! :(

My cc1200 just died after about 12 years on a used 12 hp aqs engine. At the time when I first bought it had a broken con rod, blown clutch. We tore it down, new clutch assembly, changed the 3/4” front axles to 1” axles. Installed the used 12 hp Kohler. Cleaned the 44 c mower deck. It’s been faithful like the family dog. I have a 14 hp aqs with a creeper that’s going next into it, my point is these are worth fixing up.

Forgive me, but what is aqs?

I think the Kohler AQS engines used a gear drive starter on the flywheel vs a belt driven starter/generator.

Geared starter, bigger flywheel, I believe a larger carb, larger fan housing, electric pto, the air cleaner housing is fed from the flywheel housing per hose. Wide frame cadet.

AQS quietline engine, the cadet has side panels.
