I crank my 129 up the other day, and it did not want to move in F or R. With the throttle on low it move in R and F to the shop, and that was it. It will not move at all. One thing I thought about is that it was parked up hill in that shed. Can any one give me some steps to go through please ? I got some good advice on here about buying a battery, and cleaning the ground. I purchase a TSC battery 280 CA.
 
There is a shifting mechanism on the left front side of the hydro. There is or should be a peep hole cover on the left side of the frame near the front of the hydro. Open the peep hole and move the shifting lever to see if the mechanism is working. You can get a better view by dropping the mower deck and viewing from the bottom - takes some one to move the shift lever while you observe.

Sifting mechanism wear causes shifting problems on Cub Cadets. If that's the problem, fairly easy repair but not inexpensive.

Edit. There is a roll pin in the front of the drive shaft, it located in the hub on the back of the engine. Check for a broken roll pin. If the roll pin is broken, purchase a replacement from a Cub Cadet or IH dealer. Standard roll pins are not heavy enough.
