Covering discs on planter runner

One of the two planter runners I’ve picked up has covering discs mounted between the runner and the press wheel. I cannot find any reference to them in the parts manuals. Does anyone have any ideas about them. The setup doesn’t appear to be homemade and it looks like they are set up for some type of down pressure, maybe a spring and rod like on the planter runner itself1B7ACE34-2D84-4FCE-AA54-CA2047DD8365.jpeg554F5AF5-64EB-44F6-B15D-E66A2F5D4200.jpegFC1BE63D-3DD0-433E-BA49-2798B1B023C9.jpeg47915939-5349-4CCB-B0E9-54188C0A7D5F.jpeg0134D4BD-25CA-4F57-B503-104D96DB8ADA.jpeg. I think they should really help covering seed and I know that is one of the biggest issues with a runner type planter.

Definitely don’t want to sell them. I would be willing to take them off the runner and take some close up pictures with a tape measure next to the parts if you would like to fabricate some. I’ll do some more reading in the operators manual. Maybe I missed them

I have a set of those that came with a planter setup for a super C. I have never used them but I think like you that they would be very useful for covering seed.

I've got a Super A planter runner with the covering disks on it. In certain soil types it would be a very valuable attachment.

I figured they might be off some other farmall that had a runner slightly larger than the runner on a cub. They appear to be a little bit larger than what would be a perfect fit on a cub. I think they will help a lot in my clay soil. I used to have a cole runner planter and getting the seed covered without having them planted too deep was difficult. I’ll find out in the spring how well they work

They could be aftermarket?? ----- Yetter was big on making attachments for equipment. I'm sure there were other companies as well.
