ConnectiCubFest 2007 - with Photos

Guys
I ended up in hospital Tuesday night and just got out a few hours ago.
I will save you the details. I may not be able to go to the show at all this weekend. That means I will not be able to help out with the breakfast.
I am very disappointed and hope to be able to show up for a few hours on Saturday, but not promises. I hope everyone has a great time.

Spaceghost,

Sorry to hear about your hospital visit, I hope you get to drop by for a little bit. Get well.

As far as breakfast goes, Nancy and I are happy to help out, I'm sure we'll get it going OK.

Ooooohhh, Just thought of something. To be able to upload photos I need a CF (compact flash) USB card reader. I would guess the laptop doesn't have one :?: I gave mine away when I got a PC with all the slots in the front. So if anyone has one that they could bring along that we could borrow it would be a great help.

Hope to see ya Ghost.... but only if it is OK for you to go.

Larry

Larry,

I have my USB converters with me. I can take MMC, SD, XD, Smartmedia, Memory Stick and Compact Flash. We should be able to get you uploaded witbout a problem.

Art came through for us, the weather is going to be awesome!!!

See you soon!

John

Well I caught a break from UHaul, they let me pick up the trailer tonight without charging me for the day. I'm all loaded up so I should be there by 9:00am.
Save me a spot John.
Thanks,
Peter

Sure feel bad I won't see you guys but my uncles 90th birthday comes first. I had 1 aunt reach 90 earlier in the year and another will in November. Aunt elenor is 95. Mom was 91 and dad 96 when they passed. We have a bunch of old geezers in my family. I am still one of the young ones at 75 in September

Bob:

I sure hope you are feeling better and whatever it was that put you in emergency is not too serious. Let us know how you are doing.. ok. I understand how you feel about not making it.

CubFests are going to be difficult this year.. way too many things that the females in the family have planned, so the lone male in the house will be hanging around the homestead. At least some seattime is in the forecast..

Anyone want to do a favor for me tomorrow. Can someone that knows the area pick up a couple boxes of Joe for Dunkins Donuts on there way. I really don't know that area at all and I'll be loaded up with the trailer. If not I'm sure I can figure a way to handle it. Thanks -Stick-

Is there any sort of schedule of events for tomorrow?
I may have to work a couple of hours and I would like to know if
it is better to come early or later, based on the events.

Thanks :D :D

I'm not sure if there is anything firm scheduled for the Spring Gas Up, if there is it will be listed on http://www.qvea.org.

As far as CTCubFest, today was a setup day / work day. CTdave's Cub runs! And we have a number of Cubs already in the lineup.

Here's a quick pic to show the nice sign Peter Person had made.

Also a shot of Buzzard Wing (Larry), Cecil and Artc hanging around the campfire. I can't account for Larry's expression.

Peter took lots of pictures of the repairs on Dave's Cub and Larry promises more photos for tomorrow.

There is a DD just two or so miles away in town. I brought up a rented charcoal grille so if you want do do eggs & bacon, it's there. There is no charcoal yet. I'm bringing it up tomorrow & I should be back around 12 or 1.

What a great day! I have to say, on the way up to Zagray, I kina felt like I would be the "outsider" being very new at the Cub game. I was welcomed with open arms by everyone! My hat is off to Cecil & Peter who were the first to roll up their sleeves & get going on my Cub which hasn't run in at least 20 years. A quick once over & I had a list & was on my way to NAPA (only 3 miles away). I met Bigdog & the ever enthusiastic ConnecticutKIT and BlackJeep. Again, all great guys!!
In no time, we had the '59 tuned up. Wait till you see the pictures of the points  The carb was a bit of a nightmare inside. We did the best with what we had & put it back on. I happend to forget to bring my new sediment bowl for the new tank (the pictures of the old one are quite, ummm, interesting   ). No matter what we tried, the old carb refused to work properly. Everyone got cleaned up & we tried to call it a day but every time I walked by my '59, Cecil would ask "what are you looking at? Lets get her going! We must have cleaned up 3 or 4 times. After one more clean up, Cecil got frustrated. We borrowed the bowl from the "power project" & he yanked the carb off his Cub. SHAZAM!!!!!! She purrs like a kitten after sitting 20 or so years! What a fantastic sound after sitting idle for so long! It was a little smoky at first but it was probably from all the Kroil going down the hatch when the engine was stuck. We started it again after 10-15 minutes & there was little smoke. Still some kroil I suspect & perhaps the rings will loosten up a bit.
See you tomorrow!!!!
Dave
