Cicadas

Cicadas are out big time. They are filling the air and swarming on the crab apple tree at the back side of house.

Hearing aids. I don't hear then unless I walk under crab apple tree getting to and from the pickup.

Even though some maps recently show both groups have limited range, I'm sure we in NC do have both. The early emergences had an eerie hum or whirring that reminded me of the old movie, WAR OF THE WORLDS! The later ones had the more recognized "buzz" that I find much more annoying! Lots of dead ones on the ground now, so I think their life cycle is coming to an end.

What a crappy life! :?

Hopefully. Checked the garden plot this morning. Asparagus patch is almost completely covered.

Wife had big toe fused together a week ago. She has limited mobility so I'm home prepping the front porch for painting. Critters are landing on me, the porch, and the sander.
