Changing the side exhaust to stacks???

What do you think about putting exhaust stacks on my cub cadet and maybe my 154 too? I have the mufflers and the flappers to keep the moisture out of the engine when its off and stored outside. I was thinking of using a "U" shaped pipe in a lower position to gather any moisture if it does get inside the vertical pipe. I figure to put in a shutoff valve or a plug so i can open it when its parked outside to besafe so i won't hurt anything. Good idea or bad idea??? yea or nea?

Some people like stacks on them, but becareful about how much weight you add with the pipeing and the muffler. I have seen the exhaust port broken out of the Kohler blocks because of that. If they were my tractors and were going to be left outside, I would not add a stack to one of mine.

One of the rules for the pulling tractors is vertical exhaust. We use EMT (conduit) , weld up the elbow to a tight radius, run a brace from the block to somewhere on the stack, never had a problem. Dont trust a raincap, wind can blow them open allowing rain in. Another idea :idea: :idea: If you want the chrome look get a 24 inch long chrome tailstock from the plumbing shop. I think they come 11/4 and11/2 dia.
